WIT – Tracie Havlin – Stack Electric
Tracie Havlin is a Hamilton electrician who is breaking barriers and as co-owner of Stack Electric is helping to support women in the trades. She has been working in the industry for over 20 years. Her experience has helped her to become a leader in workplace equality and breaking down barriers that have traditionally kept women out of the trades. She is passionate about creating an environment where everyone can contribute equally and be respected for their skills and accomplishments. With her help, and the help of many other business owners who employ women, more women are able to enter into a career path that was once thought impossible for them.
Women have traditionally been underrepresented in the trades, but the percentage of women working in these industries is slowly increasing. In construction, manufacturing, automotive, mining, and welding, women make up only a small fraction of the total workforce. Despite this low number, there has been an increase in the number of women entering these fields over the past few years. This is largely due to increased awareness about female representation in these industries and initiatives taken by companies to encourage more women to join them. It is hoped that this trend will continue so that more women can have access to jobs that offer good pay and job security.
